Loan periods

The normal loan period is 3 weeks for students and 8 weeks for school staff, but library staff may select a different due date depending on circumstances. Additionally, certain types of items may have a different circulation type, which would affect the loan period for those items.

Loan limits

Students may borrow a set number of items based upon their grade level. Typically, junior and senior kindergarten may borrow up to 2 books at a time, grades 1 and 2 may borrow up to 3 items at a time and grades 3 to 12 may borrow up to 4 books at time.

Fines for lost or damaged items

If a student patron loses or damages an item the expectation is that a fine will be paid in order to clear their account for continued circulation privileges. The standard fines for elementary school resources are $5.00 for soft covered books, $10.00 for hard cover books, $2.00 for magazines, and $15.00 for Playaway audio players. Secondary school fines are set at the Teacher-Librarian’s discretion.

Fines for overdues

Elementary WRDSB libraries currently do not charge fines for overdue books. Secondary libraries may or may not, depending on the Teacher-Librarian’s discretion.
